7THannual San Francisco benefit honors designer eco-fashion, sustainable

technologies and eco-conscious initiatives


San Francisco, December 7, 2011 – On Tuesday, December 6, 2011, Global Green USA’s 7th annualGorgeous and Green Gala benefit was held at the LEED-certified Bently Reserve, and recognized designer eco-fashion, sustainable technologies and eco-conscious initiatives making adifference in the lives of students and families throughout the Bay Area and nationally. Global Green announced the Texas School for the Deaf in Austin as the winner of its National Green School Makeover Competition presented by Pureology, and unveiled a new Green School Mobile Apppowered by Lincoln MKZ Hybrid. 

Co-Chairs and green activists Zem Joaquin and Nadine Weil and Global Green President Matt Petersen welcomed guests with a video describing the organizations efforts, and notable guests such as Jennifer Siebel Newsom and Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom, CSI: Miami’s Omar Miller and multi-platinum recording artist Michelle Branch. Though unable to attend, actress Rosario Dawson Skyped in from London to show her support sans makeup, further acknowledging the efforts to go natural.

The benefit featured several intimate exclusive musical performances by Branch and delicious organic cuisine prepared by celebrity chefs Michael Mina, Joseph Humphrey of Dixie, and Bill Corbett of Absinthe. A runway eco-fashion show  showcased the designs of Mina + Olya, KarenCaldwell, Sara Shepherd and Oliver Tolentino.
