Rainforests are the oldest ecosystems on earth. Its plants and animals continue to evolve, developing into the most diverse and complex ecosystems on earth. Living in limited areas, most of these species are endemic or found nowhere else in the world. In tropical rainforests, it is estimated that 90% of the species that exist in the ecosystem reside in the canopy. Since the tropical rainforests are estimated to hold 50% of the planet’s species, the canopy of rainforests worldwide may hold 45% of life on Earth.

#Fight4theAmazon (2019 – Present)

Global Green USA has partnered with PUBG MOBILE, one of the biggest video games in the world, for the #Fight4TheAmazon social impact campaign to help save the Amazon Rainforest. Actors and humanitarians Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green will serve as co-hosts of this important campaign to galvanize the gaming community into action in protecting one of the world’s most precious natural resources.  Global Green is happy to share Tencent Games’ excitement to harness the power of gaming for good and to inspire their community of 400 million PUBG MOBILE fans around the world to come together and fight to protect the Amazon. The company has committed to a generous donation to Global Green as well as partnered with Omaze, the leading online fundraising platform, to raise additional funds with an online sweepstakes.

Problem

Massive fires in the Amazon have devastated many of the indigenous species and the Earth’s biome. These trees are intentionally being cleared for agriculture and livestock farming. A 30-40% loss of Amazon forests could change the local climate and by extension would have an enormous impact on the earth’c climate.

Action

Global Green is working with its partners to reforest the Amazon by planting over 900 million trees to offset the damage. Our partners work and communicate with local farmers in Puerto Maldonado to establish a sustainable agroforestry system using shade grown cocoa, native tree species, and productive timber species.

Result

900 million trees will be planted, and the devastating effect of the fires will be reversed. Agroforestry will provide long-term benefits for the land and the community by promoting sustainable, economic, and environmental growth.
