This study looked at the long-term environmental consequences of the 1990-91 Gulf War. It showed that seven years after the war, Kuwait’s desert was horribly polluted from thousands of oil well fires and unexploded ordnance. It ensured that Kuwait’s fresh water supply remained polluted. The longer-term public health and environmental consequences still linger.
