February 18th, 2015, drew a slew of eco-conscious stars to Hollywood hotspot Avalon for Global Green’s 12th annual Pre Oscar Party, where nominee Common head- lined the night with an energetic set that culminated in an electrifying performance of Best Song winner Glory, taken from Ava DuVernay’s Selma.
Twilight alum Ashley Greene and comedian Theo Von hosted the environmentally friendly event, which also featured musical performances from Jimmy Demers and Makana, along with a live auction and sustainable dinner courtesy of Chef Kai Loebach, starting with a kale and sprout salad; then entrees of salmon and farmers mar- ket vegetable curry entrees; and finished with a mason jar carrot cake parfait.
Among the green-minded attendees were Maggie Grace, Lamorne Morris, Amy Smart, Cheryl Tiegs, Matt Walsh, Billy Zane, Alysia Reiner, Missi Pyle, and Fran Drescher. The evening promoted sustainability with recycled products and seed paper wristbands that could be planted and grown into wildflowers or herbs after use.
This year we rolled out the green carpet for hundreds of eco-con- scious stars and allies at our 13th annual Pre Oscar Party on Feb- ruary 24 at the Mr. C Beverly Hills Hotel that featured an opening act by Charlie Puth, special headlining performance by Stevie Wonder and dinner program emceed by renowned journalist Sole- dad O’Brien. Party guests made their way down the green carpet into the VIP cocktail reception. They then enjoyed delicious appe- tizers and meals from an organic menu featuring Mr. C’s world-fa- mous Cipriani cuisine, with a focus on plant-based dishes as well as locally raised, organic poultry and sustainably caught seafood.
The event featured several unique sustainable auction items including a one-of-a-kind Kimberly McDonald 18k Green Gold necklace; a sustainable trip to the One&Only Palmilla Getaway in Los Cabos, Mexico; and a unique original framed photograph from polar explorer and Board member Sebastian Copeland. Guests and Global Green social media followers had the opportunity to donate to Global Green by texting GG to 41444.
The evening ended with guests offered a gift bag stuffed with a LUX & ECO tote bag, a Planet Experts etched water bottle by Spoken Glass, the latest issue of Coco Eco Magazine, Jax Coco water, a travel-size Schmidts Deodorant and coupon for future purchases, an Eco Tools makeup brush kit, a gift card to the restaurant The Butchers Daughter, a three-pack of Sustain Con- doms and organic lubricant, an Earth Friendly Products dish soap or laundry detergent, Boxed Water, a Purely Elizabeth organic and gluten-free granola bag, a copy of food magazine Gather Journal, a DVD copy of Sebastian Copeland’s documentary Into The Cold, the children’s book Green Is Good, and a Terrain scented candle.
