Kingdom Coffee is a Berkshire based and family-owned business that was founded in 1998 to promote Fairtrade and fairness. 20 years on we continue to deliver products that are Fairtrade, ethical, sustainable and high quality yet affordable.

We constantly strive to improve our operation and hold accreditations including Fairtrade certification, Organic certification and ISO 9001 & ISO 14001. With a large range of Fairtrade coffee blends to choose from, our coffee is sourced from almost every coffee producing country in the world.

We have a large choice of Fairtrade teas and coffees. Roasting our own coffee in micro-lot, artisan batches and single origin roasting, our roastery is BRC & Soil Association accredited, Fairtrade certified and Rainforest Alliance certified. Our Roaster is the most energy efficient in the UK and has a catalytic converter to manage carbon emissions. We use a state of the art Neotech roaster technology that involves coffee being suspended in a steady stream of hot air, resulting in a consistent, fully developed roast. Our coffees are roasted twice a week in a 40,000 sq. ft. facility, with the three roasting systems offering unrivaled roast styles. We roast to order, ensuring only the freshest coffee leaves our warehouse.

We also offer a wide range of environmentally conscious products from biodegradable and compostable cups and lids, to cutlery and napkins that are also biodegradable. For more information on any of this, please do get in touch by emailing us at [email protected] or calling us on 01189 868786.

Sustainability Goals

– We aim to be the first coffee company in the UK to use Kerbside Recycling, a theoretically infinitely recyclable packaging for our beans, after conducting trials on the viability of this in regards to preserving the quality of our coffee beans.
– Working proactively with our suppliers to reduce the use of excess packaging, and the use of plastics in this.
– Explore more environmentally delivery vehicles, such as hybrid technology and electric alternatives to conventional delivery vehicles.

Sustainability Achievements

– Selling primarily Fairtrade products, who promote a more conscientious approach to farming, reducing deforestation as well as increasing efficiency and yields without the use of pesticides, but instead encouraging wildlife and natural controls.
– Our tea range is primarily Clipper (a certified B Corporation), who use GM-free tea that is stored in unbleached and plastic free teabags with organic cotton string. The enveloped range is packaged in paper based envelopes that can be recycled.
– Our coffee range is freshly roasted using a Roaster that is the most energy efficient in the UK and has a catalytic converter to manage carbon emissions. We use state of the art Neotech roaster technology that involves coffee being suspended in a steady stream of hot air, resulting in a consistent, fully developed roast whilst reusing and reducing the waste gases and using less energy as result.
– Obtaining ISO 14001 accreditation for Environmental Management.
– Changing premises allowing us to become more energy conscious by installing power efficient lighting as well as using motion-detecting lighting to reduce usage when not required, using power efficient monitors for our office work and double-glazed windows for insulation.
– We have managed to transition to using a paper-based tape on our packaging, as well as using biodegradable air pockets we inflate on site using a specific machine which reduces shipping of packaging materials whilst also not creating another burden on the planet. We recycle all cardboard on site (from our usage as well as our neighbours), and re-purpose all scrap paper for taking orders (unless it contains sensitive information such as card details).
– We have reduced our waste, achieving our target of requiring one collection every two weeks for our single waste bin.
– We use DPD Premium Next-Day delivery, the UK’s market leader in sustainable delivery. We are using them more, and as such have reduced our fleet of delivery vehicles from 3 to 2.
