Area dentists and oral healthcare specialists are asked to consider their peers years of experience, continuing education, manner with patients as well as the incorporation of new techniques and technology.

In 2018, Artisan Dental, was one of the winners of the In Business Magazine, Dane County Small Business award. Artisan Dental was recognized as a Best For The World – Worker category honoree in 2018 & 2019. The Best For The World designation is conferred by the non-profit B Lab, to businesses earning a Workers score in the top 10 percent of fellow Certified B Corporations of a similar size and in the same industry on the B Impact Assessment. In 2019, Artisan Dental was selected as a winner in the Wisconsin based, Force for Positive Change award.

Since our inception in 2014, our mission and vision has been to create an integrated prosperity that includes all stakeholders connected to our business. These stakeholders include our patients, our team members, the suppliers who support us and the communities and the planet we all share.

As a sustainable business we aim to enhance the social, ecological and economic relationships we have with all of our stakeholders as we work together to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In 2017, Artisan Dental sustainability efforts were further assessed and verified when we became a Certified B Corporation by B Labs. As a Certified B Corporation, we are demonstrating our commitment to meeting one of the highest standards of transparency, accountability, and performance available globally for sustainable and socially responsible businesses. You can learn more about our performance in the Governance, Community, Environment, Worker, and Customer categories of the B Impact Assessment used to qualify companies to become a Certified B Corporation here.

Our philanthropic donations are also strategically allocated to support achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development goals. You can learn more about our outstanding non-profit partners and the Sustainable Development goals they are addressing at our Community Giving page.

You can learn more about our overall impact by reviewing the Artisan Dental Impact Report.

Some examples of our sustainability initiative include the Artisan Dental Recycling Program, the first and only oral care products recycling program in the Dane County area.

100% of our electricity is purchased through MG&E Greener Tomorrow program.

In 2020, Artisan Dental completed a comprehensive carbon footprint analysis in cooperation with Carbon Credit Capital.  This analysis included a complete assessment of our Scopes 1, 2, & 3 greenhouse gas emissions associated with the operation of Artisan Dental.  After completing this analysis we determined a total carbon footprint of slightly less than 12 metric tonnes.

Artisan Dental became the United States’ first carbon-neutral general dentistry practice by offsetting 100% of the carbon generated by purchasing carbon credits that are part of Green Tree’s, ACRE (Advanced Carbon Restored Eco-system).  Green Tree’s ACRE system plants new forests in the Mississippi Alluvial Valley to sequester carbon, restore bio-diversity through new eco-system creation and enhance water quality through the water filtering benefits forests provide right here in the United States.

We are a member of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council, Sustain Dane’s Sustainable Business Network & Dane Buy Local.
