EPA ADMINISTRATOR VISITS GLOBAL GREEN’S LEED PLATINUM HOMES IN 9TH WARD
New Orleans, La - November 17th, 2009 - Lisa Jackson, Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Administration today visited Global Green’s Holy Cross Project in the Lower Ninth Ward.
“We are so pleased that Ms. Jackson had the opportunity to visit our sustainable development and Visitor Center and see firsthand the affordable green community that we’re building, said Global Green President Matt Petersen. “More than 8,000 people have already visited our Holy Cross Project and we are so pleased to welcome Ms. Jackson with some of the community leaders who have partnered with us every step of the way."
The Holy Cross Project, made possible with lead funding partner The Home Depot Foundation, is one part of a wide ranging initiative launched by Global Green to help New Orleans rebuild their homes, businesses, schools and other buildings to save money, reduce global warming emissions, improve health, and stand up to future storms.

In addition to the green homes in Holy Cross, Global Green has been working closely with the Recovery School District to make sure all renovation and new school construction meets national standards for energy savings and sustainability, practices that have been proven to result in better student performance and lower costs for schools.
Global Green’s resource center at 841 Carondolet Street has hosted monthly panels since early 2006 to help homeowners, contractors and other building construction people in learning green building techniques.
Global Green recently presented a Green Jobs fair in New Orleans, offering advice on job opportunities in the exploding green industry sector.
Its Build it Back Green program has also offered advice on green building techniques to thousands of Road Home recipients searching for ways to close gaps in financing, finish their homes, and return to their neighborhoods.
