14th Annual Conference of the States Parties (CSP) at the OPCW

December 1, 2009. Paul Walker, Director of Global Green's Security & Sustainability program, is at The Hague this week representing Global Green USA at the 14th Annual Conference of the States Parties (CSP) at the OPCW (Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons). He is also chairing Global Green's two-day meeting of an NGO Coalition organized for December 2nd and 3rd. We have over 30 NGOs and 50-60 people participating in this event.
This CSP is quite large -- most of the world nations are in attendance, along with NGOs, academics, industry, international organizations, and observers -- in all, well over 600 participants. The US delegate, Bob Mikulak, from the State Department and Andy Weber, the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Biological, Chemical, and Nuclear Threat Reduction, spoke yesterday, along with the Russian, EU, and NAM (Non-Aligned Movement) representative from Cuba.
