We’re committed to greening more neighborhoods in 2013 by providing no-cost assistance with a grant from the U.S. EPA’s Office of Sustainable Communities Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program. Our assistance is based on the LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) standard, which provides a nationally recognized method for creating neighborhoods that are walkable, bikeable, resource-efficient, and equitable. Green neighborhoods projects lower municipal operations costs, reduce infrastructure costs, increase use of alternate transportation, improve public health, and provide environmental protection. Local and tribal governments can apply online through November 2. You can also find out more about our 2012 work for this program.
